Leave her to Heaven won the Academy Award for best cinematography in 1945, but that’s only part of why I’m suggesting this film.

The color throughout the movie is beautiful, a dreamy palate of teal and white, but to me this film is all about Gene Tierney. Specifically in the infamous boat scene above. I watch this movie for that scene alone.

She embodies the perfect idea of 1940′s fashion.  Great hair, perfect makeup, gorgeous sunglasses, and of course big shoulders. Not to mention she plays a great femme fatale.
